Oedipus Trilogy
My favorite fiction of 2021 (2021-11-22)

As for retranslations of classics, I very much like the new Oedipus Rex trilogy and the new translation of the Kalevala .  I hope they are fiction!  And kudos to Sarah Ruden’s work on the Gospels , I am not sure where to put them…

What I’ve been reading (2021-10-25)

2. Sophocles, Oedipus Trilogy , translated by Bryan Doerries.  I cannot judge the fidelity of the rendering into English, but it is the most readable translation of these works I have encountered and they are always worth a reread.
